The Teaching Program Assistant assists with day-to-day teaching activities associated with the Second Life simulation that is part of the VET Team teaching rotation. Works with the VET Team Director and teaching team instructions by improving the Second Life simulation by making recommended program changes (scripting and/or design changes, creation of new avatars, set changes and editing of existing Second Life avatars, islands, sets, etc.) May also assist with Second Life play during the 4th year rotation by assisting the teaching team with student training and Second Life simulation events.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma
One year of experience with Second Life simulation and understanding of VET teaching focus using simulated disaster environments for teaching.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of disaster response and how this equipment will be used.
Able to work with teaching team and assist with the development of sim ideas.
Responsibilities
Second Life Improvements and Development
Performs programmatic improvements, computer island upgrades and design updates prescribed by teaching team.
Assists with the development of new simulated disaster island resources and improvements in current Second Life activities.
Program Support
Provides guidance to teaching team in Second Life improvements available from Linden Labs and for advancement of the program.
