JOB SUMMARY
Develops, implements, and manages the facility’s Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) Program, continually striving to support the Company’s goals to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all its employees.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
· Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
· Leads and coaches related to safety and health matters to the facility’s management team, with emphasis placed on front-line supervision.
· Manages post-incident matters, including incident investigations, post-incident action items, Worker’s Compensation claims, and Early and Safe Return to Work initiatives.
· Conducts various periodic inspections and audits of the facility, departments, and specific equipment/positions to identify unsafe hazards and/or conditions.
· Recommends and facilitates the implementation of effective measures in accordance with the hierarchy of safeguarding controls and Company’s standards to eliminate or significantly reduce hazards to an acceptable level throughout the facility.
· Facilitates and attends monthly management Joint Health and Safety Committee plant audits, providing guidance, coaching, and direction to Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) members on relevant safety auditing fundamentals. Monitors progress to ensure that action items resulting from JHSC audits are followed up on through completion.
· Develops and facilitates various training programs, including but not limited to orientation, mobile equipment, crane, material handling, and hazcom.
· Maintains exceptionally detailed documentation pertaining to all safety and health matters, including incident reports, risk assessments, Workers Compensation documentation, OSHA 300 logs, and other documentation.
· Hires, coaches, develops, monitors, and evaluates performance of staff. Reviews and recommends personnel actions for approval.
· Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
· Regular and predictable, full-time, on-site attendance during scheduled hours
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree or technical diploma
· 5 year experience in manufacturing or construction safety, including Workers Compensation Claim’s Management experience
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
· Working knowledge of OSHA
· Strong knowledge of MS Office programs
· Strong training program facilitation skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive documents and personnel information
