QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Science Degree and Certificate in occupational therapy.
- License from state of Michigan to practice occupational therapy.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, staff, and parents.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
SALARY:

JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Special Populations, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
JOB GOAL: To evaluation students to determine their functional levels and identify special needs, and to plan and implement therapeutic activities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with school team in planning and implementing activities to assist students eligible for special education in benefiting from their educational experience.
- Evaluates students’ educational needs and uses the findings to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Screens and evaluates students to determine special education eligibility and develop IEP’s.
- Plans therapy intervention programs to support specific educational activities of students.
- Provides training to appropriate persons to carry out therapy goals in the school setting.
- Arranges for appropriate equipment, adaptation, fabrication, and repair; arranges for appropriate room set-up.
- Functions as a team member for METs and IEPs, and maintains contact with school, family, medical personnel, and other appropriate agencies.
- Problem solves to meet student’s ever-changing needs.
- Establishes and maintains appropriate records, reports, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrators.
