Intermediate District 287 is looking for a Student Safety Coach at North Education Center!
Intermediate District 287 is a west metro district for learners with unique needs. As an intermediate district, we provide specialized services, primarily setting IV special education, to students from 12 member districts in the west metro.
What Makes Us Special:
- We are a trauma-informed district. We take into account past trauma and the resulting coping mechanisms when attempting to understand behaviors and best serve our students.
- There is a variety of support services in each school including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists and Student Safety Coaches. All of whom are student-centered and focused on building relationships with each child.

What You Will Do:
- Maintain a positive school environment by providing building security, positive behavior and social-emotional interventions, crisis prevention and intervention, and emergency support services to staff, students, and visitors.
- Serve as an advocate for educational equality for all students and families, with a particular emphasis on equity in behavior and safety planning and response.
- Seek to develop positive relationships with all students in the building
- Respond to crisis situations, triage, and call 911, EMS, and or Crisis Team as directed

Salary & Benefits:
- Salary is based on Local 2209 Salary Schedule D: $25.93 - $36.18 (depending on experience and education)

Requirements:
- Interested in candidates who are: diverse, bilingual, or have experience working with diverse populations.
- High school diploma or general education development (GED) certificate
- Four (4) years of full-time employment or equivalent in any of the following areas:
- Working with individuals in an environment that provides a broad familiarity with an understanding of the physical and emotional behaviors and challenges of children with disabilities and/or from challenging backgrounds,
- Public safety
- Building positive relationships and working with youth, such as coaching, mentoring, and/or
- A behavioral intervention position in a Level IV Special Education setting
Additional Requirements for Continued Employment as an SSC:
- Obtain Medical First Responder certificate within 6 months - preferred but not required
- Become a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Trainer within 9 months of hire
- Complete Behavior tool training within 9 months of hire
