Starting salary: $50,000/year
Qualifications:
1. Iowa Elementary K-6 License.
2. Minimum BA/BS degree endorsed to meet the needs of the specific assignment.
3. Demonstrated proficiency to perform specific assignment.
4. Preference is given to successful experience at assignment/subject/level.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: Building Principal
Supervises: Students, Teacher Associates and Volunteers as assigned.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Teacher shall teach up to 30 (thirty) hours per week.
- Teacher shall prepare classroom to enhance learning and to aid in physical, social and emotional development of students.
- Teacher shall control student behavior in agreement with the student handbook.
- Teacher shall collaborate with special education teachers on student Individual Education Plans to ensure all modifications are met.
- Teacher shall ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Teacher shall gather, manage and file all reports, records and other documents where required.
- Teacher shall protect the confidentiality of records and other documents and comply with applicable student records laws.
- Teacher shall coach a group of students for annual School Project Fair. Projects could be any of the following subjects: Science, math, English, art, social studies, and technology. The number of students per teacher will be determined according to teacher student ratio. (Example: 300 students, 20 teachers would be 15 students per teacher).
- Teacher shall supervise or organize field trips when assigned.
- Teacher shall attend all staff meetings, professional development meetings, grade chair and department head meetings.
- Teacher shall write, align curriculum, and implement or enact curriculum provided by the school.
- Teacher shall submit weekly lesson plans and grades for report cards on time.
- Teacher shall mentor assigned teachers.
- Teacher shall visit 8 families until the first day of the state tests and complete standard forms provided by the school after each visit.
- Teacher shall be available to offer after school tutoring and activities such as clubs or special interest groups.
- Teacher shall serve as an Advisor to a group of students. Such group of students shall meet at least once a week for motivational meetings and activities with the Advisor.
- Teacher shall attend Department Meetings organized by Concept Schools. These meetings could be full day meetings on Saturdays and might be out of town. All the expenses will be paid by the School (See the School Travel Reimbursement Policy.)
- Teacher shall attend parent/teacher conferences and be available after school or on Saturday for the same.
- Teacher shall attend open house for prospective parents, if assigned.
- Teacher shall be available to chaperone and/or organize school activities, such as school dances or fundraising events.
- Teacher shall supervise lunch, hallways, and other common areas when assigned.
- Teacher shall use the school online grade book and update the same timely.
- Teacher shall maintain communication with parents through phone calls, correspondences, and meetings.
- Teacher shall perform all other duties assigned by administrator(s).
Responsibilities:
- Implementing lesson plans and curriculum for preschool or special education students.
- Support students in their educational and developmental needs, providing guidance and assistance as necessary.
- PBIS and MTSS for academics
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth.
- MTSS Tier Supports: Assist with classroom management, including behavior management and maintaining a safe and organized space.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in their literacy education, including reading, writing, and language development.
- Assist with the supervision of students during activities, meals, and outdoor playtime.
- Provide feedback to the lead teacher on student progress and any concerns or observations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, such as a preschool or daycare.
- Knowledge of lesson planning and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and strategies.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the educational needs of students.
