OVERVIEW
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:
- plan, design and implement social media programs and campaigns.
- develop social media policies and procedures.
- determine which metrics (such as referring traffic, quality of content, share of voice, total size of community, engagement rate, sentiment and conversion rate) are most appropriate to measure the Museum's social media strategy.
- analyze social media analytics and user feedback to understand trends and content effectiveness.
- review and report on the effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results.
- strategize with and educate management team and Museum staff on how best to incorporate relevant social media techniques into the Museum's culture, how to handle issues or problems and best leverage social media to increase participation.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge, understanding, and experience leveraging existing social media platforms and emerging trends in digital marketing to develop strategies that cultivate community engagement and media interest.
- Experience using social media in a museum, cultural or educational institution to inform, educate and engage the public.
- Knowledge of African American history and culture to effectively develop content, advise on cultural moments, and communicate the organizational or institutional mission, content, and programs to audiences.
- Experience developing comprehensive social strategies, measuring associated metrics, evaluating campaign results and recommending ways to improve efforts and reach target audiences.
- Skill in building relationships to foster collaboration in ways that drive audience engagement and increase awareness.
- Skill in project management and ability to independently prioritize multiple ongoing projects.
- Skill in written communication to draft various social media posts, digital communications, plans, reports, policies and written documents to present information in a logical and clear manner tailored for the audiences being written for.
- Experience working in an African American history and culture museum, cultural or educational institution.
- 5-7 years experience writing and editing a variety of digital communications and copy for social media posts.
- 5-7 years experience planning, designing, and implementing social media programs and campaigns.
- 5-7 years experience analyzing social media analytics and user feedback.
- 3-5 years experience using social media in a museum, cultural or educational institution.
