Pay Rate: Undergraduate - up to $15/hr; Graduate - $15.50/hr - $17.00/hr

The Adolescent Health intern provides support to the Adolescent Health Team. This role will assist with the implementation of health education and policy, systems, and environmental change (PSE) initiatives. The intern will also actively participate in community engagement efforts that amplify adolescent health issues as well as support programs and coalition efforts that address barriers and provide public health solutions. 

Illustrative Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Develop activities and timelines for the Youth Advisory Council and Adolescent Health program participants 
  • Co-develop service-learning and advocacy projects for middle and high school students  
  • Design effective written materials, infographics, and social media content on adolescent health topics
  • Build relationships with community and faith-based organizations through the Learning Collaborative
  • Assist with providing health education to community members and partners 
  • Conduct community outreach as an ambassador for the local health department 
  • Provide support and assistance in developing strategic plans.  

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service area from an accredited college/university. Currently completing a Master’s degree in Human Services from an accredited college/university. Ability to work well with other people of diverse racial and cultural backgrounds

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:  

  • Must possess highly developed human relations and communication skills
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must be self-motivated, flexible, innovative, and possess strong organizational skills

Time Commitment: 15 to 25 hours each week. Additional hours can be requested if desired

Benefit of Internship: The Adolescent Health intern will gain hands on community health experience. The intern will be supported as they work to refine their partner engagement, program implementation, and health promotion skills. Practicing these critical competencies will better prepare the intern to perform with excellence as a student and professional.
