TITLE: Post-Doctoral Research and Teaching Associate – Manufacturing Engineering Technology
DEPARTMENT: College of Business, Engineering and Technology (CBET)
REPORTS TO: Chair, School of Engineering and Technology
CLASSIFICATION: Staff-12 months

STANDARD WORK HOURS: 37.5 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:
The Postdoctoral Research and Teaching Associate will contribute to the academic mission of Kentucky State University by supporting research, teaching, and student mentoring in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. This position is designed as a temporary, mentored appointment to advance the candidate’s professional development in research and higher education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct research in manufacturing engineering technology under faculty supervision.
- Assist in publishing scholarly work and presenting at conferences.
- Support undergraduate teaching, including laboratory instruction and/or lectures.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students in projects, internships, or research activities.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry partners on applied projects.
- Participate in limited departmental service or outreach activities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of manufacturing engineering technology principles and practices.
- Ability to conduct and publish research in the discipline.
- Effective teaching and mentoring skills.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- May supervise undergraduate students or teaching assistants in labs or research projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field (ABD nearing completion may be considered).
- Strong potential for independent research and scholarly contributions.
- Demonstrated ability or interest in undergraduate teaching.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
Licensing and Certifications:
- None are required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Requires some standing or walking in classroom and laboratory environments.
- No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
