The Opportunity
Alongside earning a salary of £37,500 per annum, you’ll work towards professional accreditation with leading institutions such as the Institute of Physics (IoP), Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and more – fully funded by us.
This 16-month programme offers you the chance to rotate through a variety of placements, building your technical expertise, broadening your experience, and growing your professional network. You’ll gain hands-on experience in nuclear science and engineering, develop your skills through protected training time, and contribute to projects that matter. Our graduates have supported fault studies, radiation protection, hazard analysis, and operational teams on site. You’ll also benefit from a dedicated chartership mentor and ongoing support for your professional development.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Physics Graduate at EDF, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the UK’s journey to net zero.
- Rotate through placements in technical support, operations and radiation protection
- Work on fault studies, hazard analysis and radiological consequence assessments
- Support operational teams at nuclear sites, focusing on safety and performance
- Take part in specialist training including Nuclear Fundamentals and reactor systems
- Collaborate with mentors and industry experts to shape your career path
Your Work Location
You’ll be based at one of our main locations: #Gloucester (Gloucester Business Park), #Bristol (Aztec West), #Bridgwater (Hinkley Point C), or at our operating stations in #Hartlepool and #Sizewell. Expect to spend 3–5 days a week in the office, with at least one placement away from your main location. The programme is rotational, so you’ll move around – but we’ll support you every step of the way.
Who You Are
To join us, you’ll need a 2:2 Bachelor’s or Postgraduate Degree (obtained or expected) in Physics, Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths or a related subject. We’re looking for people with a genuine interest in nuclear energy, strong communication and organisational skills, and a passion for solving technical problems.

Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
