Job Title: Chief Operating Officer
Reports To: CEO & Founder, Legendary Family of Companies
Summary: A large, established real estate development firm based in Destin, Florida, specializing in the development of marinas, multifamily properties, hotels, and other hospitality projects across the North Gulf Coast and the Bahamas.
The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for leading all operational aspects of the company. The COO will drive the company's strategic vision, oversee financial performance, and lead a team of vice presidents across various divisions, including hospitality, development, construction, and retail. This role is critical in shaping the future of the company and ensuring its continued growth and success.
Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's diverse portfolio.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the company's mission and objectives.
- Lead and manage the vice presidents of all major divisions, ensuring accountability and high performance.
- Manage the company's financial performance and oversee project financing and acquisitions.
- Review and refine company processes as necessary to improve operational efficiency.
- Lead and manage organizational changes or restructuring as necessary to remain competitive.
- Manage company resources to effectively support business functions.
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing management team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business partners, vendors, and team members
- Ensure the successful development and operation of all projects from conception to completion.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in large-scale real estate development.
- Proven experience at a C-suite level with a comprehensive understanding of project acquisition, financing, development, and operations.
- Direct experience in one or more of the company's core areas: hospitality, development, construction, or marina management.
- A degree in business or finance is preferred.
Strong financial background and experience with budget development and management.
A Strategic thinker with problem solving skills.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams.
Current operations include:
Management of festival harbor front resort operations including over 100K sq. ft. of retail including shops, stores and six food and beverage leased operations and a 289-unit condominium which operates as a hotel with 720 bedrooms, with full service including restaurant, room service, maid service, spa, ballroom, several wedding reception venues, and several meeting rooms. This development also includes a 100-slip marina featuring diversified fare carrying vessels including fishing, diving, pirate ship, snorkeling, parasailing and jet skiing. Overseeing more than 150 weddings annually.
Currently planning and constructing expansion of these facilities to include among other things:
275 hotel room, 1400+ car parking garage, 100K sq. ft. of additional commercial space to include approx. 6 restaurants (4 to be leased and 2 to be operated) and an additional 100 condominiums. Once complete, these facilities will be under the direct supervision of this position.
At a nearby location to the property in Destin which is beginning to be developed:
An inland marina, dry and wet slips, yacht basin, water park, 2 additional hotels (contemplated to be managed by others) and several leased food and beverage operations including over 1000 short term occupancy hotel, condo, or villa accommodations with direct access to Company owned and operated Forbes Travel Guide and BoardRoom Magazine ICONIC 18-hole golf course, club house, dining room, private beach and meeting space..

Language Skills

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have experience in building and advising on budgets for resort-related entities.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
Availability Some entities are open and operated seven days a week. Employees are required to be available on workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays.
License Requirements Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.
