Wood Transmission and Distribution are recruiting for a Risk Manager based in Inverness, Scotland, supporting several major electricity transmission schemes. The Risk Manager will be responsible for SME leadership and support of delivery of project risk activities across the Projects Business Unit. This is full time, permanent role with an emphasis on site based presence in Inverness, Scotland.
The high-level objectives of this role are as follows:
- Focal point and subject matter expert (SME) for project risk and contingency management.
- Interface with Project Delivery BG leaders to ensure risk and contingency management practices are adhered to as SME.
- Provide independent facilitation of risk workshops on selected projects where required.
- Execute independent QRA risk analysis on selected projects where required.
- Develop and maintain project risk and contingency management procedures, processes, and tools at the BU management system level to drive consistent delivery execution.
- Lead and support training, development and competency of risk management resources.
- Assurance of risk activities on projects.
- Involvement in tender review process where necessary.
- Project Delivery interface with; Group Risk Manager to ensure alignment.

Responsibilities
Performance
- Drive HSSES culture and performance.
- Support the business objective of delivery of projects to contractual, HSSE, quality, cost, and schedule requirements, to deliver or improve upon as-sold margins.
- Support the Execution Hubs / Centres as required with Project Risk Management.
- Lead and train others in Qualitative and Quantitative risk assessment
- Organise and facilitate Risk Review sessions with Project team and clients if required: leading brainstorming sessions with clients and Wood internal team for risks identification and risk registers preparation. Run schedule and cost risk analysis with the most common industry systems. Present results to Client and Wood senior management.
- Assist developing Risk Management Plans in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Assist project delivery teams to organise risk activities within the project.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining Project Risk Registers (in ProRisk, where required).
- Monitor and report risk related trends to the Project Delivery leadership for consideration for BU risk register
- Represent the Risk discipline at BU level as required.
- Support intervention on projects from a risk perspective, including peer reviews.
Strategy and Development / Business Development
- Support risk assessment and analysis on selected proposals
- Support, as required, LRM process to ensure the right delivery models for future prospects.
- Drive strengthening and deepening the use of HVEC operations (e.g., GEC India) to maximise efficiency and profit for all projects.
- Support Projects BU Strategy and Strategic PD Objectives.
People
- Provide appropriate leadership to support risk SME’s in Projects BU.
- Support of resourcing, career development processes, competency management, training and succession planning for risk management resources.
- Facilitate networking of sub-BG risk SME’s to leverage expertise and peer support across the wider Wood business.
Governance, Policies and Procedures
- Support development and maintenance of BU level Project Delivery processes and procedures in line with Wood policies and requirements defining accountability and responsibility.
- Explore novel approaches and solutions to drive innovation in Project Delivery risk and contingency management practices.
- Develop and support consistency of Project Delivery systems and tools.
- Assure that the BU is compliant with the requirements of Group and BU procedures associated with risk management.
- Interface with HSSE to compliment activities.
- Interface with Supply Chain to compliment activities.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in appropriate subject.
- Fluency in Acumen Risk, Palisade @risk & Primavera Risk, qualifications preferred.
- 7 years+ experience in Qualitative and Quantitative risk assessment.
- 7 years+ experience of Option Selection / Comparative Assessment techniques.
- Proven track record of delivering quantitative analytical approaches and ability to build up remedial processes to assist in tackling issues and tasks.
- Experience with complying and implementing Corporate and Project Risk Management Standards.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Min 10 years of experience in oil and gas or similar industry.
- 3-5 years experience in a Risk Management SME role.
- Understanding of all Project Delivery Functions; Project Management, Project Controls, Engineering, Supply Chain (Project Procurement and Sub-Contracts), Construction.
- Experienced in FEED, EPC, EPCm, PMC type Capital Projects
- Experience and understanding of project management, and general project execution and delivery tools, processes and procedures.
- Direct experience in a construction site of a large project.
- Broad understanding of the business drivers for Wood clients and market drivers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
