POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Rail Director at LJA Rail, The Director will lead logistics and construction operations, mitigating risk, ensure safety, acquire equipment and material, and obtain permits from appropriate authorities. This ideal person for this role will need deep understanding of the construction industry, specifically to industry and public projects, to drive progress and surpass project performance for timeline, budget, and quality.

 A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Guide project planning, support of contracting processes, design management, construction, and commissioning of industry and public assets.
  • Consult, coordinate, and review with clients on highway/rail projects to enhance public safety.
  • Identify opportunities to improve labor, technology, logistics and supply management processes.
  • Develop structure and coordinate necessary resources for projects to ensure safe, effective execution while uncovering cost savings through best practices, policies, and optimal resource allocation.
  • Drive strategic alignment with interdisciplinary stakeholders, architects, consultants, contractors, and government officials.
  • Serve as point of contact and collaborative partner with the Federal Railroad Administration, state partners, and other public and private industry stakeholders.
  • Define and evolve policies and procedures related to construction safety, project management, construction management and contractor management.
  • Perform onsite inspections for construction specification and standard compliance, ensuring adherence to safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety audits and meetings. Prepared spending and progress reports. Reviewed and approved payment contractor invoices for 100% accuracy.

 REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) highly preferred
  • Education preferred, but relevant experience will be considered

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years managerial experience
  • 10+ years of experience in construction and rail engineering services  
  • Proficiency in appropriate software for the market.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and impeccable work ethic.
