ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: |
· Assumes the responsibilities of the Nursing Home Administrator in his/her absence. |
· Supervises and enforces policies and procedures of the facility. |
· Monitors facility to provide a clean, safe environment for residents and staff which is conducive to a high level of resident care. |
· Assists in directing the utilization of the facility’s resources:

· Assists in monitoring quality assurance in all departments in the facility: Makes rounds on a daily basis with the specific objectives for observation, evaluation, intervention, and follow-up. Interviews patients, staff, and family when available when making rounds. Meets on a one-to-one basis and in groups with department heads on a regular basis to review objectives, share information and accomplishments, evaluate, and problem solve. |
· Assists in monitoring infection control policies for resident and staff safety. |
· Assists with review of incident and accident reports of residents, staff, and visitors, and ensures implementation of appropriate facility policy. Responsible for implementing the Workman’s Compensation Program in conjunction with Human Resources. |
· Assists in monitoring mandatory annual in-services and other staff development programs, including planning, and promoting. |
· Assists in ensuring that all hiring follows appropriate personnel procedures. Ensures that new hires have completed Orientation and understand their job responsibilities. |
· Assists in monitoring personnel records for complete, accurate, appropriate, and current information. |
· Supports the Administrator in census control: Represents the facility to the community and referral agencies. Participates in the admissions meeting each day to discuss possible admissions and re-admissions. Reviews resident admissions for appropriateness and the ability of the facility to provide the required resident care services. Reviews census control objectives with the Administrator on a regular basis. |
· Participates in Case Mix Index Meetings as part of the interdisciplinary team evaluating resident assessment accuracy. |
· Assists the Administrator in compiling, organizing, updating, purging, and filing data (Corporate Disclosure Statement, Annual Operating Budget, Annual Capital Budget, Statement of Authority from the governing body to manage the facility, Statement of Authority to manage in the absence of the Administrator, etc.) in the Compliance Manuals. |
· Assists in monitoring committee meetings as assigned. |
· Furnishes written reports to Administrator as assigned. |
· Maintains open, positive communication. Promotes good working relationship with the unions representing employees in the facility. |
· Participates in family meetings for the purpose of sharing information and receiving feedback on the resident care given in the facility. Responsible to assist the Administrator to manage the facility in such a manner that the facility will have full licensure status. |
· Remains current in long-term care management via professional journals, corporate policies and procedures, networking with other Assistant Administrators, and attendance at professional meetings and workshops. · Assists with Human Resources related functions for assigned departments to include disciplinary documentation and Worker’s Compensation documentation; along with the granting of leaves of absence and the appropriate documentation. · Assist in monitoring of external consultants delivery of services |

· Must work the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with supervisors, customers, vendors and any other person or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals. |

· Must assume responsibility for providing timely, appropriate responses to requests/suggestions/complaints or refer such comments to the appropriate person. When referring requests/suggestions/complaints to another individual, the employee must follow-up in writing to the individual and must maintain an accessible copy of the referral, or follow company guidelines. |
· Must communicate information and state problems or challenges to be resolved in a clear, concise, courteous, nondiscriminatory and professional manner, and be able to provide clarification, as necessary. |
· Must show respect for the opinions of others and behave in such a way as to ensure an atmosphere free of needless interruptions, difficulty and/or discrimination. |
· Must receive and provide clear, constructive feedback regarding work performance (to/from individuals or groups) and be able to clarification, as necessary. |
· Must handle in a constructive, non-disruptive manner, the multiple business, organizational and interpersonal changes or stresses that may exist in the employee’s work, work processes, dealings with other personnel, and supervision (provided or received). ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: |
1. Education/Training/Work Experience:
Education: Bachelors degree in business administration, computer science or related desired. Equivalent combination of education and experience. Certificate/Licenses: Current active license as Nursing Home Administrator in Pennsylvania, or progression toward that goal. Work Experience: Successful completion of 12 week internship program approved by the State and one year administrative experience in long term care facility.
