Schedule:
- After your orientation period – you will work three day shift 12 hour shifts each week (7 AM to 7 PM). The specific days may rotate and can be discussed during the interview. Working weekends and holidays are part of this rotation.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be working in one of our three inpatient hospice care centers and will be responsible for providing care for an average of 6-7 patients.
- Point of Care charting is completed on desktop in the nursing station.
- We provide direct patient care such as bathing, peri-care, dressing, mouth care, assisting to toilet, incontinent care, turning in bed, preparing and assisting with meals.
- You’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of a Physician or Nurse Practitioner, RN, social worker, and chaplain.
- You’ll be responsible for working closely with the RN and your interdisciplinary team on your shift to communicate patient status changes and patient or family concerns.
- Train family on how to provide personal care within your scope of practice.
- Preparing and turning room over for new patients.
- You’ll provide post-mortem care for deceased patients (washing, grooming, dressing, etc.)
- Restocking supplies and rooms
- Comfort measures over pushing someone to get better make sure that they are comfortable
1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of CNA course. Must attend 12 hours of in-service training supervised by a Registered Nurse on a rolling 12-month basis. Has not had a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation.
2. Licensure / Certifications: Current certification with State Board of Nursing, or current registration with Department of Facilities Service in the State of North Carolina.
3. Experience: No prior experience required. Two years experience with hospice, home health or oncology preferred.
