The Opportunity:
Are you ready to shape the future of aviation? WSP is seeking a passionate Intermediate Aviation Planner to join our forward-thinking team. You’ll play a key role in projects that range from new heliport and airport developments to airport expansions, runway rehabilitations, and terminal upgrades. Your work will include airport and heliport planning, facility and strategic studies, airside and apron layouts, aeronautical impact assessments, and regulatory compliance. You'll help deliver transformative airside and landside projects for public, private, and First Nation clients, including upgrades to runways, aprons, terminals, hangars, and heliports. Collaborate closely with WSP’s project managers, engineers, and technical staff to drive innovation and excellence in airport infrastructure.

What you can expect to do here:
- Analyze transportation data and conduct aviation studies to guide airport capacity, demand solutions, and operational planning.
- Collaborate with planning teams to develop airport master plans, land use strategies, terminal layouts, and zoning initiatives for sustainable growth.
- Utilize advanced flight planning and airport design software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, CAST, and AviPlan, to create innovative layouts and technical drawings.
- Perform aeronautical impact assessments, meteorological studies, and develop construction operation plans to support safe and efficient project delivery.
- Prepare persuasive business development proposals and produce clear technical memos, graphics, and reports to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Deliver engaging presentations and facilitate public consultation events to inform stakeholders and encourage community involvement.
- Serve as a key liaison, conducting site visits and maintaining strong relationships with clients, regulatory authorities, airport operators, and project teams.
- Embrace additional responsibilities as needed to ensure the success of aviation projects.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
University degree or college diploma in a relevant field including planning, transportation engineering or aviation management;
Minimum 7-10 years hands on experience in aviation planning for consideration as an intermediate planner;
Deep knowledge and understanding of airport airside, landside and terminal operations;
Proven ability to manage multiple projects
Knowledge of Aviation standards, codes, compliance policies and regulations;
Ability to work in a team environment as well as working independently with minimum supervision;
Firm knowledge of airport planning and design standards including Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) Transport Canada TP312 4th and 5th Editions, TP 1247, ICAO
Airport Planning Manual and demonstrated competency with AutoCAD and Office Suite
Ability to travel on short assignments.
