What to expect

As a Black Belt Operational Excellence colleague, you will join us on our journey and undertake a valuable role at Post Office. You will support the Group Operational Excellence (OE) way of working, a number of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Black Belts are required to continuously increase the capability of the Post Office, to deliver value to customers and Post Masters.

 

The Black Belts are key members of the OE team, responsible for the development and delivery of continuous improvement strategies and projects, always modelling the Post Office behaviours and demonstrating a Postmaster first mindset.

 

The Black Belts will be responsible for ensuring the Post Office follows an OE maturity framework.

Additionally, the Black Belts are responsible for delivering OE training and development programs to upskill the organisation in best practices.

They will help drive a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance in the teams they lead or work with, delivering and driving decision-making across the Business, Customers and Partners.

What you’ll need to succeed

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent.
  • Certified Experienced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Experience

  • Experience working within the Institute of Continuous Improvement in Public Services (ICiPS) framework is desirable.
  • Broad experience of implementing Operational Excellence tools and techniques into a variety of business environments and business sectors.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to deliver yellow and green training and certification.
  • Mentoring and coaching Yellow & Green Belts in delivery of their continuous improvement projects.
  • Support all functions to develop their maturity in Operational Excellence.
  • Support the Operational Excellence Director in the development of an Operational Excellence Strategy for the Post Office and lead on monitoring the implementation of the strategy.
  • Act as a key member of the central OE Team, facing the business areas and functions within the Post Office, ensuring consistency of both approach and standards.
  • Critique teams on the development and execution of projects to ensure the correct tools and techniques are being deployed, on the right problems.
  • Demonstrable experience leading large teams: collaborating with senior leaders, to shape and deliver functional improvements linked to business objectives.
  • Substantial experience convening multiple stakeholders and through successful relationships, leading key cross-functional projects to drive results across the organisation.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Certified Black Belt, with demonstrable activity on both Lean and Six Sigma improvements.
  • Empowering change manager who can speak with knowledge, authority, and confidence in their subject matter, guiding people and teams toward success.
  • An expert advisor with ability to apply advanced knowledge of statistical analytics.
  • Advanced influencing and communication skills; using a range of techniques to deliver messages effectively make an impact and drive a successful outcome.
  • Ability to maintain strong and influential relationships with senior stakeholders and leaders to build support for business plans.
  • Strong commercial business acumen and ability to make data-driven business decisions.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to upholding the values and principles of Post Office.
