About CommuniCare+OLE Established in 2023, CommuniCare+OLE is the result of a union of two health centers with a deep roots in their respective communities and reputations for providing high-quality primary care to all, regardless of insurance or ability to pay: OLE Health of Napa and Solano Counties and CommuniCare Health Centers of Yolo County. Building on a legacy established by both organizations in 1972, CommuniCare+OLE is a network of federally-qualified health centers with 17 sites across Napa, Solano, and Yolo Counties. It offers comprehensive care, including medical, dental, behavioral health and substance use treatment, nutrition, optometry, pharmacy, care coordination, referrals, and enrollment assistance to more than 70,000 individuals, and no one is turned away due to lack of insurance, immigration status, or ability to pay. Many services are offered outside of its sites, including mobile health, home visiting, and community and school-based programs.

JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW: The Napa Garden and Teaching Kitchen Educator works as part of the Food and Wellness team to ensure patient and staff access to the Darioush Community Garden. They lead culinary and garden education activities, helps coordinate educational activities led by community partners, grow and harvest the food featured in Food is Medicine activities, and document activities.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS/TRAINING
| 1. High school diploma or equivalency required. 2. Academic training in agriculture and/or culinary education preferred and could be acquired at college or high school career technology education. |
| 1. Experience working with persons living with or at risk for diet-related chronic diseases preferred. 2. Commitment to serving low-income, under/uninsured population is essential, and experience working within community service organizations is preferred. |
| 1. Organic farming and/or culinary education experience preferred 2. Bilingual (Spanish and English) language skills required. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. | Use organic methods to grow vegetables and promote fruit tree productivity with support from the Garden and Outdoor Education Coordinator. |
2. | Harvest, package and distribute produce to patients/clients, integrating food into core primary care and behavioral health services. |
3. | Coordinate with primary care and behavioral health staff to offer regular educational activities. |
4. | Ensure all outcomes are reached and reporting complete as outlined in relevant grants. |
5. | In collaboration with the Facilities Department, support garden expansion/construction activities. |
6. | Coordinate schedules, prepare meaningful tasks, and mentor volunteers, including community members, patients/clients, and students. |
7. | Coordinate and/or lead Culinary Medicine activities in the South Napa Campus Teaching Kitchen. |
8. | Participate in training to expand skills and knowledge related to gardening, culinary instruction, and participatory education. |
9. | Performs other duties as assigned. |
