Director of Capital Markets

FLSA Exemption: Exempt, salaried

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer, Larry H. Miller Real Estate

Job Description

The Director of Capital Markets will report directly to the CFO of Larry H. Miller Real Estate (LHMRE) and will be responsible for directing LHMRE’s capital planning and financial strategy for its portfolio of real estate investments.  The Director of Capital Markets will be responsible for the company’s capital stack, by providing financing solutions, and growing strategic partnerships.

Primary Duties

  • Lead the company's project-level financing efforts, including being responsible for all aspects of raising the project-level debt needed for the construction or acquisition of our real estate assets as well as permanent debt upon stabilization.
  • Build, expand, and maintain relationships with current and prospective investors, banks, and other capital providers.
  • Collaborate closely with project finance team to support platform capital formation activities and the forecasting of capital needs (VCC).
  • Optimize the company’s capital stack and cost of capital through innovative financing solutions.
  • Assist CFO and President of LHM Real Estate in structuring and finalizing LP equity partnerships.
  • Analyze market trends and developments to identify new opportunities for capital raising and strategic partnerships. 
  • Maintain expertise in current market data and trends, leveraging insights to inform strategic decisions and guide corporate strategy.
  • Contribute to valuation analyses and processes.
  • Partner cross-functionally with investment, FP&A, and asset management teams to drive strategy and optimize tactics as they relate to capital markets.

Additional Duties

  • Support CFO and LHMRE Leadership Team in managing key LP investments.
  • Assist Commercial Development and Asset Management platforms in providing strategic support of stabilized commercial portfolio including capitalization and capital budgeting.
  • Jointly with the CFO, Director of Business Systems, and VP of Accounting, manage the LHMRE platform level Dashboard and Financial Reporting Strategy.
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience & Skills

  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MA preferred
  • 10-15 years of experience
  • CPA or other relevant qualification preferred
  • Experience using Yardi
  • Proven experience as director of finance or similar role
  • Real Estate investment experience a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
  • An analytical mind with a strategic ability
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 60 lbs. independently.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting.
  • To perform other duties as required.
