Duties and Responsibilities

(*Essential Functions)

  1. *Under the general supervision, assist in the identification and recruiting of prospective students for the College.
  2. Assist in identifying different target populations and centers of influence; informing prospective students of the educational opportunities available at Leeward CC; and educating interested students about college-related admissions and application process; financial aid application processes and other elements of the College.
  3. *Respond to requests for the College’s/Recruitment Office’s participation in various outreach events (e.g., career and college fairs, workshops, tabling opportunities, etc.).  Represent the College at events and/or coordinate the College’s representation at them.
  4. *Assist with designing, coordinating and leading campus tours/visits. Work with the requesters, academic programs, services and other campus stakeholders to design and implement the tours. 
  5. *Develop and conduct informational sessions, presentations, social receptions, and media events to promote the College.  Design and execute on-campus recruitment events to promote the College and its programs to prospective students and their centers of influence.
  6. *Maintain and keep current online and technological tools to help promote the College.  This includes but is not limited to virtual tours, online inquiry forms, websites, text messaging platforms, chatbots, and client relationship management tools.
  7. *Work closely with College programs/units (e.g. Academic Programs, Counseling & Advising, Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Student Life, Job Prep, Instructional Divisions) to stay abreast of the different opportunities and services available to students and to facilitate their connection to these programs/units. 
  8. Work with the College’s marketing specialist, institutional research analyst, satellite campus coordinators and program counselors to define target population, key characteristics, and to assist in developing effective outreach strategies.
  9. *Develop fliers, brochures, and/or informational materials (e.g. College website, Custom Viewbook, etc.) for distribution to prospective students, parents, teachers, administrators, and other centers of influence.  Work closely with marketing specialists to create signs, banners, etc. used at outreach events.  Procure swag and other materials needed for outreach activities.
  10. *Assist in maintaining partnerships with community groups (e.g. private non-profits, government and social services agencies, etc.) and participate in recruitment opportunities.  
  11. *Work closely with the College Recruiter to transition students from prospective student services to incoming student services.  
  12. Maintain databases, spreadsheets, photo files, and other documentation related to the various events conducted by the office.
  13. Assist in data collection and report writing as needed for formal program evaluation and improvement efforts.
  14. *Support and assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and day-to-day supervision of student employees, and contribute to the overall coordination and administrative functions of the office
  15. *Represent the College on division, campus or system committees that address outreach/recruitment efforts and/or enrollment.
  16. *Work assignments will include working outside normally scheduled work hours - day, night, weekend, and/or holiday hours, as directed at various off-campus locations.
  17. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business, education, communications, counseling, psychology, sociology, marketing or related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student support, or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. 
  2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of outreach and/or student support services demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
  3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with outreach and/or student support services.
  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of outreach and/or event coordination.
  5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software.
  8. Ability to multi-task and creatively solve problems that arise during the implementation/coordination of programs.
  9. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  10. Ability to work nights and weekends as needed due to office schedule and events.
  11. Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. 


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Familiarity of outreach and recruitment in a college-setting.
  2. Experience with preparing for and participating in career & college fairs, campus tours, workshops and/or other public facing events.
  3. Experience with public speaking in front of a variety of audiences.
  4. Positive working relationships with centers of influence: high school, stop out/returning, academic transfers, adult learners, military, underrepresented or minority groups.
  5. Supervisory experience.
