**This position is located onsite in Southington, CT**


SUMMARY: The Quality Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining robust policies and procedures to ensure proper parts are produced and performing inspection of finished products and properly maintaining equipment to improve the overall quality of products, systems, and procedures, while overseeing the operations of the quality department.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Personally exhibits, recruits and coach's associates consistent with Core Behaviors
  • Responsible for promoting culture of safety 
  • Manages, trains, and provides back up for the Quality Inspectors
  • Create and maintain current files for all quality related correspondence
  • Resolve customer complaints or problems regarding rejected or non-conforming products
  • Training and implementation of Six Sigma and Lean Principles
  • Document and analyze rejects, PARS, CARS and TIR reports
  • Build and produce documentation for Quality Manual as directed by supervisor
  • Suggest new testing or inspection methods to minimize inspection efforts required
  • Perform final and in process quality inspection of finished products in accordance with established procedures
  • Develops and maintains an effective staff through the selection, training, compensation, motivation, coaching, termination, and evaluation of their staff
  • Delegates duties to staff as well as supervises and provided instruction when needed
  • Maintains teams' weekly timesheets, PTO, and ensures proper staffing is in place accordingly
  • Communicate projects and department status with management to stay on target in reaching personal and departmental goals
  • Conducts annual and quarterly reviews with team members and communicates results to HR and supervisor as required
  • Assist in professional development of direct reports and cross-train where needed
  • Conduct facility quality meeting to share metrics and expectations with the manufacturing team

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Ability to work independently or as a team on projects assigned by the supervisor
  • Strong computer literacy skills
  • Excellent math aptitude
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in managing hourly employees
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Diplomatic and professional when resolving issues
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
  • Work well under pressure, and have exceptional time management skills
  • Vision correctible to 20/20

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising the quality team

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (focus on Engineering)
  • At least 3 years quality assurance experience
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Prior experience inspecting aerospace cutting tools preferred

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • None required

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Employee is regularly required to speak and hear English, stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Employees are required to use computers and other equipment.
  • Employees frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.

 

PPE REQUIRED:  

  • Wrist rests for keyboard and mouse pad.
  • Eye protection, ear protection, steel-toed shoes as required
