Quality Assurance Specialist I

Department: Procurement & QA Location: East Point, GA

Who We Are:

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from.? Since 1979, we�ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners � including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers.? We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.?

Inventory Management & QA / Supply Chain

About the Role:

The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the safety, quality, and timely distribution of perishable food products at the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This position partners closely with Procurement, Inventory, Transportation, and Fulfillment teams to monitor product quality, reduce waste, and maintain compliance with food safety standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and committed to supporting our mission of providing safe, nutritious food to the community.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all products meet quality standards and are distributed efficiently, minimizing spoilage and supporting uninterrupted operations across departments.

  • Food Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe food environment by proactively identifying and addressing risks, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and preventing potential health hazards.

  • Provide actionable insights on product trends, compliance, and order accuracy to reduce waste, optimize inventory, and drive continuous operational improvements.

Strengthen operational accountability by participating in audits, addressing quality concerns, and maintaining high standards for donor and vendor products.

What You�ll Need: Skills your resume should demonstrate:

  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication, collaboration and teamwork skills.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt, including training on warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and standards (AIB, FDA, FSIS, USDA) is a plus.
