Job Title:
K-8 Math and Reading Tutor (College Student Position)
Position Type:
Part-Time | Flexible Schedule | In-Person or Virtual (depending on school/program)
Job Summary:
We are seeking motivated and responsible college students to provide academic tutoring in math and reading to elementary and middle school students. Tutors will work with students one-on-one or in small groups to support skill development, homework completion, and confidence building. This is a great opportunity for students interested in education, youth development, or community service.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic support in math and/or reading to students in grades K-8.
Use age-appropriate strategies and materials to support comprehension and skill-building.
Assist students with homework, class assignments, or foundational skills.
Create a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Track student progress and communicate regularly with program staff or teachers.
Attend required training and follow program policies and safety guidelines.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor to young learners.

Qualifications:

Must be a current Lane College or Union University student (education or related fields preferred).
Strong academic skills in math and reading (minimum GPA requirement may apply).
Prior experience working with children is a plus but not required.
Clear communication skills and a patient, encouraging attitude.
Dependable, organized, and able to manage time effectively.
Must pass background checks as required by the school or program.
