Position Summary:
Area Health & Safety Manager: Based in the United States and reports to the respective Regional Health & Safety Director. An Area Health & Safety Manager Provides Safety Leadership and support to plants within an Area as part of the Safety Strategy and Action plan.

- Based out of Decatur, IL
- Build management and employee commitment and enthusiasm for safety through effective Leadership and Influence.
- Work closely with Plant Safety Coordinators and contacts to achieve action plan success. Provide constant and consistent Leadership, Guidance and Mentoring along with training and public presentation as necessary.
- Manage and assist direct reports growth.
- Conduct effective comprehensive health & safety audits of regulatory and policy requirements. Evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs, identify deficiencies and present solutions.
- Understand a multitude of health and safety regulations and policies.
- Communicate the health and safety requirements effectively.
- Assist plants with implementation and management of health and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with divisional leadership to ensure compliance with all regulatory health and safety requirements and provide inputs and ideas for constant improvement.
- Manage all safety reporting requirements within the Area.
- Act as a Champion and Mentor for Health & Safety.
- Recognize hazards, assess risk and recommend controls.
- Evaluate the functional performance of the safety staff and provides guidance or training where necessary.
- Use leading and lagging safety performance metrics as a criteria in the annual review for colleagues reporting directly to him or her and to establish safety action plans.
- Held accountable for area safety performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a field related to ADM operations
- Minimum of 5-7 year’s work experience in a health and safety position
- CSP or ASP Certification or equivalent experience
- Proven leadership skills demonstrated by resume
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including public presentation ability
- Proven ability to work effectively and enthusiastically on a team
- 50% travel required, sometimes reactionary on short notice
- The position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments: office environment and varying indoor and outdoor environments to include extreme heat and cold
- The position requires the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods as well as climb stairs and ladders
