MSI Controls Systems Electrical Technician II

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Mid-Level Control Systems Electrical Technician with hands-on experience in building wire harnesses and electrical enclosures for mobile applications. Our work centers around mobile equipment, utilizing automotive-style connectors, wire types, and rugged designs tailored for off-highway environments.


This role is best suited for technicians with prior experience who can independently assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot control systems while supporting continuous improvement efforts.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Build and wire electrical enclosures and harnesses from schematics, layout drawings, and instructions.


  • Install automotive-style connectors, routing, and protection systems using mobile-industry best practices.


  • Independently troubleshoot and test control systems, collaborating with engineering to identify and resolve issues.


  • Review and interpret documentation for accuracy and provide feedback on improvements.


  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment in line with 5S practices.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support LEAN and continuous improvement initiatives.


  • Contribute to documentation of build processes and quality standards.


  • Share best practices with less experienced technicians when needed.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience building electrical panels and wire harnesses, ideally for mobile or off-highway equipment.


  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.


  • Familiarity with automotive-style connectors, SAE J1128 / Automotive Crosslink wire, and mobile equipment control systems.


  • Strong troubleshooting ability and independence in problem-solving.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with CAN bus wiring, controller installation, and sensor/actuator integration.


  • Background in mobile hydraulics, off-highway machinery, or construction/agricultural equipment.


  • Experience using ERP or work order management systems.


REQUIRED FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand machines and how they work.


  •  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift more than 30lbs.


  • Ability to crawl over equipment and perform hands-on wiring and assembly.


  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally as they arise.
