Summary/Objective 

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Diagnostic Services Department is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients undergoing diagnostic testing.  The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients requiring monitoring, support, sedation and other related tasks under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital meeting accreditation, state and federal regulations. Follows ANA Standards of Practice: Assessment, Diagnosis, Outcomes Identification, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation and Quality of Practice.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Organizes patient care in conjunction with cardiac diagnostic testing to accomplish required functions.  
  2. Assumes responsibility for nursing function in the Department ensuring that the nursing process and therapeutic interventions are completed proficiently, in a timely manner and documented.
  3. Communicates information appropriately with Medical Staff and other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care and attainment of patient expected outcomes. 
  4. Assists with the provision of services in the Department including stress echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, electrocardiograms, cardiac tilt testing, stress testing and others as required.  
  5. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to patients served in relation to growth and development over the life span to identify their requirements relative to age-specific needs.
  6.  Utilizes appropriate precautions related to infection control in relation to patients and equipment/supplies.

Required Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

1-3 years related experience

Required License/Certifications

Current RN License in the state of Texas

BLS certification

ACLS certification
