A Day in the Life of a RN Cardiac Rehab: 

The RN Cardiac Rehab position performs patient care, education, documentation, and assists with program quality management and statistical data collection.  This position is responsible for clinical assessment and treatment of patients as a Registered Nurse.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Completes nursing assessment of patient and appropriately documents into patient chart.
  • Coordinates with a multidisciplinary team on evaluation of new patients to determine treatment and exercise program needs as well as safe, continuous, adaptable and beneficial treatment of existing patients.
  • Creates individualized treatment plans, ensures treatment plans are up to date throughout program, and monitors outcomes and discharge plans on cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients.
  • Implements medical and nursing orders per plan of care and documents appropriately.
  • Provides education to patients and family members on diagnosis, individual risk factors, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring.
  • Performs nicotine cessation counseling on an individual inpatient basis and in a group setting as part of the Commit to Quit program. 
  • Provides further clinical assessment and treatment of patients during program where additional health problems or complications are involved.
  • Administers medication during treatment and as required in emergency situations.
  • Participates in the development/implementation and revision of quality control, process improvement, and quality management.

  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, their families, physicians and team members
  • Basic computer skills to include electronic health records
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to perform precise equipment calibrations
  • Ability to organize workload, and use of effective time management
  • Problem solving, reasoning and critical thinking skills
  • Basic knowledge of ECG interpretation, patent education concepts, cardiac exercise formats, and physical assessments
  • Ability to respond with professional skills to emergency care situations

Here Is What You Will Need:

  • Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
  • Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
  • Two (2) or more years of relevant nursing experience
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
  • 6 Months: AHA ACLS within six (6) months of start date

Nice to Have:

  • Recent and relevant experience in cardiovascular field
  • Training in Nicotine Cessation Education
