What Will You Be Doing?
The primary role of a Station Support Engineer II is to own and assist in the supervision of IT services for a subset of medium to large-sized airports serviced by Frontier Airlines. This responsibility includes leading the investigation and resolution process of complex endpoint, telecommunications, and network connectivity issues unique to the airline industry. The Station Support Engineer II, based on knowledge and skills, will also assume ownership of service requests that include computer and operating system technical problems, approved software installations, deployment of desktop hardware, and assist with any general operator difficulties. In this role, the engineer will directly interface with other airline personnel, airport stakeholders, and vendors as part of their daily activities, and be required to evaluate cost-effective solutions to fly to a location, prioritize issues, and manage a travel schedule.
Essential Functions
- Lead deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of endpoints to include printer, workstation, laptop, tablet, cellphone, kiosk, network, VoIP, and air-to-ground radio devices
- Manage technical investigations and root cause analysis to resolve complex IT issues that impact operations at airports, training and support facilities, hangars, and branch offices
- Perform configuration, deployment and troubleshooting of Windows OS, iOS, and macOS nodes
- Provide hands-on support for technology backups, maintenance, imaging, Win OS, iOS, and software installations and removal, operating system updates, system upgrades, and restores
- Provide hands-on support for implementing, testing, labeling, troubleshooting, and documenting low-voltage Ethernet and fiber optics cabling
- Perform administration of Active Directory including maintenance and management of Organizational Units, user accounts, computer accounts, security groups, and Group Policy
- Build a relationship with business leadership and collaborate with business partners and vendors to ensure alignment of IT operations and meet expectations of business objectives
- Perform site surveys and develop implementation plans for mid-size to large infrastructure projects to support all IT components for airport openings, closings, and modifications
- Assume ownership and accountability for a large subset of locations served by Frontier Airlines
- Work cross functionally with internal and external IT departments, customer facing business units, facilities, external vendors, and stakeholders to complete project deliverables on time
- Track projects and service tickets via ticket management platforms, e-mails, and phone
- Enhance Business Continuity documents and lead Disaster Recovery operations on the field
- Document the location and interconnection of IT equipment at airports using Microsoft Visio
- Develop and implement IT and business processes to ensure standardization across locations
- Promote adherence to IT standards, security policies, and corporate compliance regulations
- Assess and prioritize network circuit deliverables, perform network equipment deployments, and preventative maintenance work to maintain operational standards required by the business
- Direct the activities of other IT personnel on network-related issue resolution and project work
- Serve as an escalation resource for junior IT support personnel, business, and IT management
- Investigate IT problems and trends, determine course of action, and own issue until closed
- Identify the root cause of network connectivity problems and troubleshoot connectivity abnormalities using IT principles, critical thinking, diagnostic testing software and hardware
- Analyze network traffic for patterns, anomalies, bandwidth utilization, and performance
- Monitor network performance of stations to determine usage and whether immediate configuration adjustments are needed, or circuit upgrades are required
- Collect and evaluate Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) data to ensure proper allocation of resources during project planning, identify opportunities for optimization post-project implementation, and enhance station plans for disaster recovery
- Define station-specific requirements and parameters for installation and testing of LAN/WAN circuits, routers, switches, controllers, multiplexers, UPSs, or related networking equipment
Other Functions
- Ensure adherence to documented change management processes to protect the integrity of the production environment
- Supervise service ticket loads and ensure that response time SLAs are met
- Research and recommend new technologies
- Perform Supply Chain Management tasks

Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ or Network+ Certification (Required)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) a plus
- Microsoft Certified Professional, or equivalent experience
- Troubleshooting knowledge of LAN, WAN technologies
- 2+ years’ experience planning IT projects
- 2+ years’ experience supporting Active Directory
- 5+ years’ experience supporting Microsoft Windows 10 Operating systems
- 5+ years’ experience with PC hardware, VOIPS, printers, and software deployments
- 5+ years’ experience supporting network devices e.g. Wireless Access Points, Switches, Routers
- Fiber Optic Technician, High Voltage Safety, or Low Voltage Certification a plus
- Bachelor’s degree: 5+ years of related IT experience and education considered in lieu of degree
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High aptitude for learning modern technologies
- High aptitude for troubleshooting workstations’ hardware and software
- Experience with structured cabling implementations, to include IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and Fiber
- Experience with Wireless Access Point (WAP) 802.11 configurations and implementations
- Experience with Wired and Wireless CCTV security camera systems. AXIS Certification, a plus
- Experience with workstation and network equipment cable management
- Detailed-oriented IT professional with robust security practices
- Experience with incident management tracking systems
- Ability to facilitate a climate of cohesiveness, cooperation, and teamwork
- Ability to adapt to new, different, or changing situations
- Ability to schedule activities and set priorities to meet deadlines and carry out goals
- Basic knowledge of the airline industry is helpful
- Excellent social skills; ability to build rapport easily
- Ability to work autonomously
