The Department of Communication and Media invites applicants for a 9-month full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Organizational Communication position. The position begins in August 2026.

The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in Communication Studies with emphasis in Organizational Communication. Classes and courses may be offered via in-person, online, distance education, and/or hybrid modalities. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching methods and demonstrate attention to the learning needs of the department’s students. The person’s experience, expertise, and specialized training will serve to strengthen the department's mission and goals. The faculty member will collaborate with other departmental faculty and staff to ensure student success.
This is a full-time, 9-month appointment. There is potential for summer and winter session instructional opportunities.
Responsibilities include:
- Teach undergraduate courses in Organizational Communication primarily focusing on core courses such as Introduction To Organizational Communication Theory and Advanced courses in topics such as Teams and Networks, Leadership, Sustainability, Consulting, and Project-Based practicum. Secondary courses include courses such as research methods, public speaking, and program capstone.
- Contribute to curriculum and curriculum development in Communication Studies program
- Develop and maintain a productive program of research and scholarly activities. This is a requirement for tenure and promotion.
- Mentor and advise students
- Participate in service activities at the department, college, university, and/or community level
- Perform other duties as assigned
Position Duties
- Doctoral degree in Communication or a closely related field/discipline. ABD may be considered - must be completed on or before August 2026
- Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses in organizational communication
- Active research and scholarly program
- Experience integrating the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in pedagogy and research
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in writing & verbally, and present dynamically to a variety of constituents
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience leading and managing student-client/community projects in and/or outside of the classroom; and/or
- Ability to create and cultivate network of clients on and off campus; and/or
- Demonstrated ability to teach Communication Studies core courses such as research methods, public speaking, and program capstone; and/or
- Experience teaching via different modalities such as in-person, online, and/or hybrid
