This position is for a full-time Courtesy Officer to work at Elena Gardens, a 168-unit family affordable housing community in San Jose, CA. Must have High school diploma or GED. Must have 6+ months of related experience. Salary range: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour; hiring range for new employees is generally $21.00 - $26.50 per hour, DOE. Please note an offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate and the current salary level of individuals working at EAH in a similar role.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Monitors property against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the following duties. Understands and supports EAH’s mission and core values.
RESPONSBILITIES
• Periodically patrols buildings and grounds of property, inside and out.
• Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
• Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and contacts police if persons are engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
• Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
• Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked. If necessary, observes departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
• Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Permits authorized persons to enter property (e.g., utilities and others who need access to units).
• Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
• Regulates vehicle and pedestrian traffic at entrances to maintain orderly flow.
• Posts/delivers notices such as noise levels, recertifications, inspections, events, etc.
• Authorizes towing as determined by the Property Manager.
• Attends mandatory meetings and trainings.
• Maintains confidentiality of resident, applicant, and or employee information.
• Actively participates in EAH’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED. Six months’ related experience.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIREMENTS
EAH Housing conducts criminal background checks on all candidates who have received a conditional job offer. Once you have received such an offer, you will be required to submit and pass our criminal background requirements. EAH also verifies education and employment history. Any verified discrepancy (resume or online application) may delay your background check results and/or affect your eligibility to work at EAH. Please be advised that certain roles may also require fingerprinting due to legal requirements. If onsite housing is a requirement of the position, any household members over 18 years of age who will be living onsite with the candidate must also undergo a criminal background check and tenant screening. Satisfactory completion of background check and fingerprinting requirements is a requirement of employment with EAH.
DRUG TESTING
EAH Housing requires all candidates who have received a conditional job offer to submit to drug testing within 72 hours from acceptance of our job offer. EAH Housing does not test for marijuana/cannabis. Satisfactory completion of drug testing is a requirement of employment with EAH.
