Description

Watertronics is seeking a reliable and detail-focused Shipping/Receiving and Material Handler to take the lead on all outbound shipping responsibilities while also assisting the primary Material Handler and Receiving Clerk with daily warehouse operations. This role is essential to ensuring all outbound shipments are packed and processed correctly and will support internal material movement and receiving functions when needed. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and works well both independently and as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shipping (Primary Focus):
  • Serve as the primary shipper for the facility.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare outbound shipments according to work orders, sales orders, and job requirements.
  • Ensure all shipments are labeled correctly, include proper documentation, and meet customer and carrier requirements.
  • Schedule pickups and coordinate with carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight, etc.).
  • Maintain shipping supplies and ensure the shipping area stays clean and organized.

2. Material Handling & Inventory Support:

  • Assist the main Material Handler with picking parts for Manufacturing Orders (MOs), Sales Orders, Service Orders, and internal Job Orders.
  • Help with moving materials between locations, staging for production, or returning inventory to proper locations.
  • Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) processes to maintain proper inventory rotation.

3. Receiving Support:

  • Assist with unloading trucks and verifying inbound shipments when needed.
  • Help check deliveries against packing slips or purchase orders.
  • Stage or put away received materials under the direction of the Receiving Clerk.


Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • 1–3 years of experience in shipping, material handling, or warehouse roles.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping methods and documentation (UPS, FedEx, freight, etc.).
  • Forklift certified or willing to obtain certification.
  • ERP or warehouse management system experience is a plus.
  • Must be organized, dependable, and able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable working with shifting priorities based on the day.

Language Skills

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. 


Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls; reach above shoulders; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and use foot/feet to operate machine. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
