At Moody's, we unite the brightest minds to turn today’s risks into tomorrow’s opportunities. We do this by striving to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome to be who they are—with the freedom to exchange ideas, think innovatively, and listen to each other and customers in meaningful ways. Moody’s is transforming how the world sees risk. As a global leader in ratings and integrated risk assessment, we’re advancing AI to move from insight to action—enabling intelligence that not only understands complexity but responds to it. If you are excited about this opportunity but do not meet every single requirement, please apply! You still may be a great fit for this role or other open roles. We are seeking candidates who model our values: invest in every relationship, lead with curiosity, champion diverse perspectives, turn inputs into actions, and uphold trust through integrity.

Skills & Competencies

  • 7+ years of experience designing and deploying scalable backend systems, with a strong track record in metering, telemetry, or observability.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++, C#, or Java, with deep expertise in Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development.
  • 4+ years of experience building cloud-native services on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a focus on distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to debug and optimise complex systems, especially in high-throughput, low-latency environments.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a history of influencing architectural decisions across teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, streaming data pipelines, and usage-based billing systems.
  • Familiarity with AI concepts, and a strong interest in applying responsible AI practices to improve engineering workflows and product capabilities.
  • Experience with time-series data modelling, Kafka, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, and building dashboards and alerts for observability.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable metering systems that power usage-based billing, product analytics, and operational visibility across Moody’s SaaS platforms.
  • Lead the development of cloud-native telemetry pipelines, ensuring reliability, performance, and extensibility.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable code that processes real-time telemetry and time-series data.
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Platform Engineering to deliver integrated solutions that drive business outcomes.
  • Set technical direction for the team, mentor junior engineers, and champion best practices in system design, observability, and DevOps.
  • Own the full lifecycle of metering systems—from instrumentation and testing to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement, contributing to both internal platform evolution and customer-facing value
