About the Role:

Under general supervision of the Consumer Loan Manager, conformance with established policies and procedures the Consumer Loan Support Specialist will provide direct assistance to the lenders with loan portfolio administration and provide backup support to the Processors. Loan administration will include, but is not limited to, providing information to callers, responding to correspondence, and providing clerical support. The Consumer Loan Support Specialist will assist the Consumer Lenders and Processors with new loan applications, collateral documentation, and other necessary documentation.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • Represent First Security Bank in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs.
  • Perform a second review on all denied loans in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Perform a review on all loans that are not originated, which includes incomplete, approved not accepted, and withdrawn applications.
  • Enter accurate HMDA data in DecisionPro.
  • Setup virtual folders appropriately so loan files can be scanned to Synergy.
  • Work with Consumer Lenders, Loan Processors, title companies, and motor vehicle departments at the state and county level to perfect our lien position and limit the bank’s risk.
  • Prepare loan packages for boarding & work closely with the Loan Servicing Team to efficiently close loans in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required loan checklists.
  • Work loans maturing list to ensure loan is paid or refinanced by the loan maturity date.
  • Work past dues list and contact customers for payment. Document notes in enhanced collections. Keep current with all lending and collections (federal and state) regulations.
  • Work exception lists, including collateral exception list and obtain proper documentation and perfect bank’s lien position in a timely manner.
  • Give direction to appropriate staff for review of loan package prior to final loan documents being prepared & printed.
  • Backup Lenders:
    • Assist branch employees with consumer loan applications and information collection from potential consumer borrowers.
    • Meet with loan customers, provide product information, rates, fees, and terms, and obtain a completed loan application and collect all required loan documentation for a specific loan product.
    • Assist Consumer Lenders with ordering title commitments, evaluations, & provide all necessary disclosures to the applicant(s).
    • Review loan files for financial statements, income verification, cash flows, title commitments, and appraisals/evaluations prior to loan closing.
    • Must maintain a working knowledge of cash flows and Credit Authorizations and assist with completion of these documents as requested.
    • Back-up Consumer Lenders and process loans as needed in the Consumer Loan Origination System. Pull credit reports, verifies information, and underwrites the loan request pursuant to bank policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Properly counsel applicants, analyze financial and related data, determine appropriate pricing and loan structure.
    • Document all loan files with comments and conversation logs.
    • Perform collateral analysis on all secured consumer loans. Perform inspections on collateral as needed.
    • Communicate with branch employees on any loan decisions, coordinate loan closings with the applicants and branch employees, provide branch employees with proper closing instructions and ensure all loan documentation is received prior to loan closings.
    • Close loans with customers as needed.
  • Position will require Consumer Loan Support Specialist to obtain an NMLS Number assigned by the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry, as required by law.
  • Obtain a notary commission and be responsible for upholding state notary laws. Keep current on your legal duty to the state and adhere to the law and record-keeping requirements.
  • Keep management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Participate in Community Service and Bank sponsored activities that serve and support the mission and values of First Security Bank.
  • Complete required bank and OnCourse training courses within assigned time frame(s).
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required. Participate in all consumer loan meetings and understand the information provided and communicate the topics to other employees.

About You:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Desire a minimum of 1 year banking experience in related job field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of company loan products and services. Ability to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Knowledge of state and federal lending regulations. In-depth knowledge of all applicable federal and state regulations, including Regulation B and Regulation Z that implements the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) and Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
  • Proficiency with use of personal computers and associated software, including Word and Excel. Typing accuracy and speed of at least 50 words per minute. Operate other office machines such as photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.
  • Communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing. Excellent written communication and editing skills. Follow written and oral instructions. Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems.
  • Must possess exceptional grammar, punctuation, and spelling with a meticulous attention to detail. Proficient in editing and proofreading with the ability to produce high-quality, error-free content.
  • Maintain a positive, personable, and professional demeanor when interacting with customers and team members. Must be capable of up to 15% travel (e.g., 3.5 days/month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
