We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Immigration Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in a full-time capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages a team of production staff: associate attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants
- Provides expert legal advice and representation in immigration matters as needed
- Provides weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for production team
- Onboards new attorneys and paralegals and provides ongoing support
- Provides regular training opportunities to attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants
- Sets performance goals, conducts regular evaluations and provides feedback to production staff.
- Oversees case assignments and ensure adequate and appropriate staffing
- Audits hearing calendars and ensures hearing/interview coverage
- Serve as a point of contact for Special clients to address their concerns and provide resolutions.
- Audits SOLs and Critical Deadlines
- Ensure SOPs are being followed by production staff
- Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and policies to advise production staff
- Ensure adherence to legal standards, regulations, and best practices
- Attend hearings and interviews and review filings as needed
- Review and Finalize cases for write offs and closure
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree from an accredited law school.
- Active Law License in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
- Extensive Experience as an immigration attorney, likely a minimum of 5-7 years, to have a strong command of various immigration law areas (e.g., family-based, employment-based, asylum, removal defense).
- Up-to-Date Knowledge of current immigration laws, policies, and procedures. This is a non-negotiable, given the constant changes in this legal field.
- Proven Leadership Experience managing a team of legal professionals (attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants).
- Strong Communication Skills to effectively onboard new staff, provide training, deliver feedback, and communicate with "special clients."
- Ability to Mentor and Develop Staff by setting goals, providing regular feedback, and identifying training opportunities.
- Excellent Organizational and Time Management Skills to handle responsibilities like auditing calendars, overseeing case assignments, and preparing reports.
- Process and Operations Management: Experience with creating and enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Data and Reporting Skills: The ability to gather, analyze, and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to track team performance.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to address client concerns and resolve complex issues effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness is crucial for auditing files, calendars, and deadlines (SOLs and Critical Deadlines).
