Position Summary

Provides overall direction for the unit in assessing, implementing, and evaluating work flow patterns to ensure compliance with AAMI standards. Serves as a liaison to the Operating Room Manager.

Certification after 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualification

Certification within 6 months of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must work varied hours and schedules. Requires prolonged walking and standing, frequent bending and/or stooping. May involve lifting or positioning of patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast paced environment. May be exposed to violent or disturbed individuals.

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

1.Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

2.Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.

3.Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.

4.Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.

5.Complies with all HIPAA standards.

6.Instrument technician is able to verbalize and demonstrate the location of fresh linen, how to reset workspaces, and how to restock supplies in the decontamination room. Consistently resets work spaces daily or when area is soiled without prompting.

7.Instrument technician consistently loads and chooses the correct cycles for automatic washers.

8.Consistently demonstrates all phases of the sterilization process.

9.Consistently wears PPE assigned for department.

10.Consistently demonstrates the proper way to load, run and unload the sterilizer safely.

11.Is knowledgeable regarding quality metrics in the department and is able to speak about it when asked.

12.Consistently records biological test indicator results and trouble shoots any issues.

13.Consistently demonstrates safe and proper use of the Sterrad.
