This Electrical Lab (E-Lab) Supervisor position will oversee and lead the operation of the electrical lab and direct the lab staff in the daily operation. The electrical lab objective is to complete electrical tests for the Industrial Product Development Group. The successful candidate is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, managing the lab technicians, prioritizing the workload, identifying test lab needs and building the needed capabilities, maintaining supplies and equipment, and ensuring compliance with and creating SOPs in the completion of the lab’s function. The individual must be adept at interpreting test procedures, executing work instructions, communicating effectively, summarizing results, organizing records and maintaining a clean and orderly working environment. The individual must be knowledgeable in the operation and function of all laboratory equipment, keep up-to-date maintenance records and schedule and coordinate service and calibration services properly and timely.

- Maintain workflow of test requests through lab with Engineering manager, Engineers and E-lab technicians.
- Ability to address testing logistics of new engineering initiatives at the design stage.
- Maintain the battery sample inventory, to include boost history and scraping – communication with engineers.
- Create, submit, track and resolve issues with E-Lab Purchase Orders related to supplies, equipment, maintenance and repair.
- Contact and schedule repair and upgrade work with outside contractors.
- Complete E-Lab Technicians’ objective setting, mid-year and year end performance reviews.
- Identify staff development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained.
- Ensure safety and good housekeeping practices are followed in laboratory, be familiar with job related SDS.
- Ensure proper adherence to SOPs by technicians; develop new standards to meet needs.
- Be a leader in 5-S principles and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of batteries and Stryten Energy products, or ability to learn.
- Build, acquire and develop lab capabilities to meet product development needs.
- Monitor and ensure equipment calibration.
- Manage technicians workload and maintain lab metrics report.
- Minimum of two year technical degree in electrical/chemical technology, 4 year degree preferred.
- Five or more years experience or 8-10 years equivalent combination of work experience with electrical and/or chemical test equipment.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Forklift Training Certification a plus
- Ability to direct staff in safety rules, operating and maintenance procedures and technical manuals.
- Strong focus and exposure to safety protocols in the laboratory.
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain records, prepare reports and compose correspondence relative to the work.
- Ability to lead and supervise staff and ensure equal opportunity in hiring and promotion.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
- High degree of organization, self-motivation and accountability.
- Analytical ability to prioritize work and assign work to ensure balanced work assignments.
- Ensure proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- Must be detail oriented and be capable of working on teams to accomplish objectives.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel) and working knowledge Microsoft Suite.
- While performing the duties of this job, individual is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Individual is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 50 lbs. on a daily basis and 51 to 150 lbs. with assistance of equipment on a daily to weekly basis.
- Regular use of safety glasses and shoes. Vision requirements: close vision.
- While performing the duties of this job, individual is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
- Individual regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
- Noise level is minimal.
