The Common Market is a nonprofit distributor of local foods, dedicated to connecting regional farms with communities in need. Our mission is to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure access to healthy food within our communities. We are currently seeking a Warehouse Associate specializing in food distribution to join our dynamic team.
As a Warehouse Associate in food distribution, you will be responsible for the critical processes involving the receipt, storage, and shipment of food products. Your focus on quality control and efficiency will help us deliver fresh and nutritious food to local institutions.
SCHEDULE: MONDAY, TUESDAY, SUNDAY 8AM-3PM + SATURDAY 12-7PM
Responsibilities
- Receive and inspect incoming food shipments, ensuring quality and compliance with safety standards
- Pick, pack, and prepare food orders accurately and efficiently for distribution
- Maintain organized inventory management and perform regular stock checks
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of food products in accordance with safety guidelines
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles safely
- Keep the warehouse clean and organized, adhering to health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with colleagues to optimize workflows and improve operational efficiency
Requirements
- Experience in food distribution or warehouse operations
- Knowledge of food safety and handling practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate warehouse machinery (forklifts and pallet jacks) preferred
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends if needed
