Instructional Aid Senior Specialist

Department:

Arts and Sciences | Center for Life Science Education

Plan, supervise, and develop laboratory and instructional materials for introductory biology courses, presentations, and demonstrations. Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment for use in introductory biology labs. Coordinate the ordering of materials and maintain a laboratory budget. Hire, train, schedule, and manage team of lab instructional support staff and student lab preps. Collaborate with instructors and course coordinators to create and improve lab activities and develop laboratory procedures. Apply scientific knowledge and skills to solve equipment, personnel, protocol, and safety issues. Manage long term laboratory projects and see them through to completion. Collaborate with course coordinators in training teaching assistants in lab procedures and safety protocols. Leads in the design, development, and training of lab exercises for Curriculum-Based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs). Manage department lab space and lab equipment coordination. Troubleshoot computing and projection systems as needed. Serve as Safety Coordinator for the lab. Lead and collaborate on safety planning. Coordinate EHS removal of hazardous materials. Oversee community outreach projects. Serve as Jennings Building Coordinator. Other duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience in any life science or supporting area (e.g. education). Four years of relevant experience required.

Desired: Master's degree or equivalent education/experience in any life science or supporting area (e.g. education) desired. Experience in teaching with critical inquiry pedagogical techniques desired.

The pay range for this job profile is $24.76 - $32.33. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
