Authorization Coach
DonorConnect is seeking a full-time Authorization Coach. The Authorization Coach (On-Call) is a key member of the Donor Family Services team, responsible for providing real-time coaching, mentorship, and guidance to frontline staff during authorization and family communication processes. This role supports both family approach activities and promotes best practices in family engagement. The position fosters a culture of learning, cross-functional collaboration, and dual advocacy. The Authorization Coach also serves as a crucial link in supporting families and saving lives through donation.
This is a remote role, with some required travel for in-person meetings and training.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training/Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, social sciences, counseling, or related field preferred, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in family counseling, bereavement, or crisis intervention preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working at an OPO required
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of donor authorization, donor management, and medical/legal aspects of donation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to deliver clear, empathetic messages
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with accountability to team outcomes High emotional intelligence and capacity for navigating high-stress, emotionally charged situations with compassion
- Ability to assess environments quickly, prioritize effectively, and demonstrate discretion and sound judgment
- Proven effectiveness in coaching others, giving and receiving feedback, and promoting a learning culture
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees and personnel in hospital settings
- Attentive to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions, to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to move up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
- Exposure to patient elements including communicable disease, bloodborne pathogens, and other common hazards of a clinical setting
