We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Director of Place Shaping to join our Development department at Together Housing Group. Requirements
Outline of Key responsibilities for the Assistant Director or Place Shaping:
- Leading the Place Shaping team to deliver new build, regeneration, and refurbishment projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to drive high performance and continuous improvement across the Development Department.
- Developing and managing Place Shaping programmes, setting targets, monitoring progress, and addressing variances to guarantee delivery commitments.
- Building strong relationships with internal departments, stakeholders, and developer partners to ensure collaboration, engagement, and successful project outcomes.
- Ensuring compliance with Homes England Development Standards, governance, audit, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Overseeing procurement strategies, contractual relationships, and budget management for the Place Shaping programme.
- Representing the Group externally and influencing stakeholders to promote high-quality affordable homes and growth opportunities.
- Driving innovation, technology, and design within the Place Shaping programme, adapting to legislative changes, funding criteria, and policies.
- Managing recruitment, mentoring, and professional development for the Place Shaping team.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience managing construction to Homes England Development Standards.
- Proven track record in partnership working, budget management, and investment/regeneration projects.
- Knowledge of development procedures, project management, and the full development cycle.
- Experience in private sector housing, social housing, or construction/development.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at a senior level.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CIH L3 or above, foundation degree, or equivalent in construction/development).
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
- Flexible approach to working hours to meet project demands.
Desirable:
- Experience of resident involvement and engagement.
- Experience in scheme appraisals and regeneration option appraisals.

- Starting salary of £65,000 per annum
- 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
- Hybrid working - you will manage your week by dividing your time between working in our offices, on site and working from home.
- You will be working 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday (occasional evening or weekend working depending on business needs). Working arrangements are flexible in line with our Smart Working culture so that we deliver an excellent and accessible service for customers.
- This vacancy is flexibly based, giving you the option to work from any of our offices in Wakefield, Halifax, or Blackburn. Please note that the role requires regular travel across all Together Group offices and sites, as well as visits to development locations within our portfolio. You’ll need a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use, as travel is an integral part of the role to support site inspections, team leadership, stakeholder meetings, and project oversight.
