THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE

 

$4,454.23 to $5,732.59 biweekly.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  Government Center/Viera.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergencies.  Performs skilled administrative work, serving as second in command to the Department Director, directing and coordinating the activities of the Public Works Department programs.  Direction is provided to the Program Managers, and other professional, technical, and clerical staff.

 

REQUIREMENTS Master's degree in Traffic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field PLUS six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in Public Works, including four (4) years in a responsible managerial role.  Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.  In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made storm that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
