Summary of duties and responsibilities

 

We are seeking an Accounts Receivable (AR) Manager to lead our AR team and processes. The AR Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the invoicing, billing, and cash collection processes. This role involves overseeing daily AR operations, resolving escalated customer issues, and driving improvements to ensure timely payments and efficient processes. The AR Manager will work closely with other departments, manage team development, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day Accounts Receivable (AR) operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with company objectives.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance AR processes, internal controls, and systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and timely month-end close.
  • Collaborate on billing system enhancements and integrations to reduce manual work and increase scalability.
  • Oversee cash application activities, ensuring prompt and accurate posting of customer payments.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing in accordance with customer contracts.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing AR team of five direct reports.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales and Client Relations (Collections Team) to resolve billing discrepancies and customer escalations.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of AR-related general ledger accounts.
  • Set clear performance goals and KPIs (e.g., DSO, collection efficiency, resolution time).
  • Exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance, particularly in applying accounting policies, analyzing data, and recommending solutions to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of progressive Accounts Receivable experience; background in contract revenue and billing environments with familiarity with ASC 606 and deferred revenue preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance required.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets and extract actionable insights.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively across functions and levels.
  • Proactive leader with a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset.
  • Customer-centric and solutions-oriented, with the ability to handle difficult conversations with tact and professionalism.
  • Prior people management experience required.
