Production Supervisor/ 2nd Shift bei JBSS

Summary of Position: The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing production operations and managing staff to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality output.

Functions Of The Positions

• Production Oversight - Supervise production operations, personnel, and safety initiatives across designated areas or lines. Ensure monthly and yearly production KPIs are met, including line efficiencies, downtime, changeovers, overfill, pounds per man-hour, and units/pounds per minute.
• Staff Management: Train, evaluate, and develop JBSS personnel. Manage temporary labor within assigned work areas.
• Scheduling: Manage and complete the production schedule to meet operational goals.
• Continuous Improvement: Support and participate in improvement initiatives. Coordinate with other shift supervisors and the operations manager to ensure smooth transitions and consistent workflow.
• Quality Compliance: Monitor documentation (e.g., work orders, pre-ops) to ensure adherence to JBSS quality procedures. Work to prevent product holds, reworks, and recalls, and address facility-wide production issues.
• Maintenance Support: Provide input on maintenance concerns and help eliminate recurring downtime. Ensure operator preventive maintenance tasks are completed promptly.
• Operational Recommendations: Offer proactive suggestions to the production manager to enhance output and efficiency.
• Audit Readiness: Maintain audit-ready work areas and assist with internal and external audit preparations.
• Food Safety & Quality (Ongoing) Ensure safe and quality food production by following GMPs, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/fraud protocols, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory standards. Maintain and document preventive controls, report food safety issues immediately, and collaborate across teams to share knowledge and improve competencies.
• Safety Compliance (Ongoing) Adhere to all health and workplace safety policies. Promote a safety culture through safe work practices, hazard reporting, and safety observations.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred
  • Minimum five years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required
• Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and report generation
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Strong decision-making, planning, and leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High attention to detail
