ACEC is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking Director of Digital Transformation to lead the charge in helping engineering firms embrace AI and other emerging technologies. This role will be at the center of ACEC’s efforts to guide members through digital adoption, foster strategic partnerships with leading tech innovators, and ensure firms are equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the Director will serve as the internal champion and external connector for ACEC’s technology agenda—driving committee engagement, shaping advocacy initiatives, and translating complex innovations into practical tools and insights that deliver real value to our members.

DUTIES:

Technology Leadership & Industry Engagement

  • Serve as the liaison to the ACEC Technology Committee, guiding members on key technology issues, business opportunities, and industry trends.
  • Facilitate meetings, working groups, and other forms of member engagement to deliver timely insights and practical outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leading technology companies in the AEC space (software providers, platforms, AI innovators, and productivity tools) to create mutually beneficial collaborations for ACEC members.
  • Meet with member firms, affiliates, and technology providers to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and translate them into actionable resources for ACEC members.

Policy Alignment & Advocacy

  • Work with the Executive Vice President and ACEC advocacy staff to identify public policy opportunities that support the adoption of AI and other emerging technologies in engineering practice.
  • Collaborate on policy initiatives that strengthen business models, reduce liability, and enable firms to use technology with confidence.
  • Support ACEC’s advocacy team by providing technical insights, case studies, and thought leadership that amplify ACEC’s technology agenda.

Education & Professional Development

  • Develop and deliver educational programming that helps members understand and implement new technologies to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Create learning opportunities at ACEC conferences, online webinars, podcasts, and roundtables.
  • Produce thought leadership and practical resources (blogs, newsletters, white papers, guidance documents, toolkits) that translate complex technologies into member-friendly strategies.
  • Partner with technology companies to co-create educational content, training modules, and case studies that showcase real-world applications.

Collaboration Across ACEC

  • Work with other ACEC groups, coalitions, and committees to develop joint programming and publications on technology topics.
  • Represent ACEC at industry events, serving as a connector between technology leaders and ACEC’s member community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Extensive experience with the implementation and use of AI, digital platforms, and emerging technologies in a business or professional services setting, ideally with exposure to the AEC sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with technology providers and translate those relationships into tangible value for members.
  • Proven track record of developing high-quality educational content, programming, and resources that support professional learning and business transformation.
  • Experience managing complex projects, timelines, and budgets, with the ability to drive outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, innovative, and strategic thinker with strong communication and advocacy skills.
