About the Department


INTERNAL POSTING ONLY
This position is responsible for general accounting functions and may be assigned areas of accounts payable, payroll or other accounting areas.  This position is assigned to pay grade G15.

Position Duties

  • Process invoices and approved vendor payments and capital project payments.
  • Reconcile various statements including procurement cards, vendor statements and other reports as needed; reconcile sales and use tax.
  • Prepare and submit sales and use tax filings, quarterly payroll tax and other state reports.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll including reconciliations and reporting.
  • Process travel requests, travel advances and travel reimbursements for approval and reimbursement.
  • Manage employee deductions for garnishments, tax liens, bankruptcies, and child support.
  • Maintain and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, expense accounts, and payment journals.
  • Prepare annual W-2 and 1099 filings.
  • Perform internal and external data transfers and payments for retirement, supplemental retirement, loan payments, and federal and state taxes.
  • Assists Purchasing Department with Year End Purchase Order liquidations and Accounts Payable close out.
  • Maintain multidepartment billing worksheets for vendors.
  • Prepare annual audit workpapers and schedules.
  • Assist with special projects and programs.
  • Perform administrative support activities such as daily mail processing, copying, scanning, maintain files, and maintain office supplies inventory.
  • Accepts, receives, and/or processes miscellaneous payments to Customer Service for deposit.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, or related field.
  • Six (6) months of experience in accounting, billing, payroll, or related work.
  • Associate degree in accounting, business management or related field and two (2) years of accounting, billing, payroll, or related work experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
