ABOUT US:
Community health is about more than just vaccines and checkups. It’s about giving people the resources they need to live their best lives. At Neighborhood, this is our vision: a community where everyone is healthy and happy. We’re with you every step of the way, with the care you need for each of life’s chapters. At Neighborhood, we are Better Together.
As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) community health organization, we serve over 500,000 medical, dental, and behavioral health visits from more than 100,000 people annually. We do this in pursuit of our mission: to improve the health and happiness of the communities we serve by providing quality care to all, regardless of situation or circumstance. We have been doing this since 1969 and it is our people who make this mission a reality. Regardless of the role, our team focuses on being compassionate, having integrity, being professional, always collaborating, and consistently going above and beyond.
ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:
Neighborhood Healthcare is proud to offer shadowing opportunities for individuals curious about pursuing a future in medicine. Shadowing allows you to observe one of our licensed providers (MD, DO, PA, or NP) in a real clinic setting, gaining firsthand exposure to the daily work of healthcare professionals.
Please note: this is an observation-only experience with no hands-on responsibilities. This opportunity is for individuals interested in exploring a career in healthcare. It is not designed for those currently enrolled in a clinical program and cannot be used to fulfill school-required hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Shadow at Neighborhood Healthcare, you will:
- Observe patient-provider interactions under the supervision of a licensed provider
- Gain insight into the daily workflow of primary care, including patient visits, charting, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Learn about the roles and responsibilities of different healthcare team members
- Reflect on your experiences to help determine if a healthcare career is right for you
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must not be actively enrolled in a medical, nursing, or allied health program requiring clinical hours
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance is required)
- Professional demeanor and respect for both patients and staff
- Willingness to abide by all clinic policies and shadowing guidelines
