The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact at the DC Bar headquarters, providing professional front desk and reception services to staff, members, and visitors. Additionally, the position supports the Audio-Visual department by assisting with logistical needs, including event setup and coordination. This is a temporary position and is expected to last approximately six to nine months.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Serves as the first point of contact for Bar guests and responds to requests. 
  • Answers and routes incoming calls, monitors activities in the reception area to ensure security and visitor protocols are followed, and records and manages the reception phone messaging program.
  • Coordinates guest access control for the Member Connection Suite program as well as the 3rd floor Wellness Room.
  • Secures the 3rd floor daily.
  • Assists the Audio-Visual team with event set-up.
  • Collaborates with the Meetings & Events department on conference and meeting room scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintains conference and meeting rooms during non-use periods. Secures the conference center meeting rooms on a daily basis. 
  • Provides administrative support to include maintaining meeting agendas, equipment checklists, and audits, and preventative maintenance documentation.
  • Provides support in emergency preparedness efforts.
  • Receives legal summons or court filings directed to the DC Bar.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
  • Must be able to work overtime in and around the set schedule to accommodate events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and deadline driven. Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact, including in-person, with Bar members, volunteers, vendors, the public, and Bar employees.
  • Must work well under pressure, possess excellent organizational abilities, and be able to manage several priorities in a day.
  • Must be adaptable, creative, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Experience working in a membership association, a similar nonprofit organization, or a law office.
