Junior Counselor For Freedom Summer Camp bei Middle Church

Objectives: Middle Church’s Freedom Summer Camp is a week-long camp happening August 21-25th at Trinity Church, Lower East Side at 602 East 9th Street, convened by Middle Church.

We are looking for youth counselors with legal working papers ages 15-20 to help with camp!

Position Details:

Supervisor: Camp Director

Schedule: 8-4PM Monday-Friday, on-site at Trinity Parish. There will be 1-2 required zoom orientation sessions prior to camp, as well as helping to set up camp on Sunday, August 20th from 2-6pm at Trinity Parish.

Salary: $17/hour

Job Description:

● Support in day-to-day operations, including setting up and breaking down the space,

helping to distribute snacks and supplies, chaperoning bathroom time, etc.

● Lead, assist, and engage children in games and activities throughout the day as assigned

● Supervise and count campers during free time, lunch time, and park dates to ensure safety

● Effectively manage up behavioral, medical, and safety concerns to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director

● Prepare crafts, snacks, and space set-up ahead of camp to facilitate a smooth start to the week

● Other tasks and projects as assigned Additional Responsibilities:

● Counselors should be interested in and comfortable working with children ages Kindergarten through 5th grade and should be comfortable working with diverse populations, both indoors and outside.
