The successful candidate will be an educator who displays passion for teaching high school English and literature; other responsibilities and competencies include:
Teaching 6 sections of English, composed of English 1 (9th grade) and Honors English 2 (10th grade)
Demonstrating cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents
Exhibiting superior teaching skills that demonstrate best practices, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and facilitation
Designing and delivering lessons that are supportive of Ravenscroft’s mission to “nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world”
Understanding the development of Upper School students and displaying a passion for working with this age group
Connecting with students, challenging them, and shifting pedagogical practice to meet the needs of diverse learners
Advising approximately 12 students and facilitating the integration of our “Lead from Here” curriculum
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management systems (including, but not limited to, Canvas and Veracross)
Experience supporting social emotional learning inside and outside of the classroom; an eagerness and ability to support our Lead From Here curriculum
Participating in other aspects of the School community as desired by the candidate (i.e. athletics, committees, etc.). The ability and willingness to coach a sport is strongly desired.
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners’ needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive English department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field required; MA or MEd degree highly desirable
Experience teaching English preferred
Experience coaching preferred
