TITLE: Long Term Substitute - Elementary FROG (Fluent Reading is Our Goal) Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS:            

1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Valid Indiana Teacher’s License in Elementary Education
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. 

REPORTS TO:          Building Principal &Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education
 
JOB GOAL:             
The mission of the FROG (Fluent Reading is Our Goal) program is to improve the educational opportunities of children by helping them:

1. succeed in the regular program;
2. attain grade level proficiency; and
3. improve achievement in basic and more advanced skills.

The FROG program is committed to the belief that all children can learn to read successfully. Further, it holds that neither is there only one way to teach all children, nor do all children take the same amount of time to learn.
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. The FROG teacher provides increased instructional time for selected students. This instruction may take place in both in-class and pull-out models. Curricular coherence is maintained at all times. Individualized academic work is the focus
2. Reading comprehension both as a process by which one gains meaning from printed material and as a precursor to math and science problem solving
3. FROG teachers act as a resource to teachers and principals in identifying reading problems through the process of observation and testing of students. They interpret, as appropriate, test results and statistical data concerning reading to principals, teachers, and parents.
4. Provide assistance in the RtI process with classroom teachers and administration.
5. FROG teachers, in conjunction with the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education and the building principal, complete responsibilities related to the Title I program in the buildings in which they are assigned.
6. FROG teachers perform such other duties as assigned or requested by the Principal.
7. Serves as a positive role model for students.
