Position Title: School Facilities Board Liaison & Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

Reports To: Superintendent

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Blue Ridge Unified School District


Position Summary


The School Facilities Board (SFB) Liaison & Emergency Preparedness Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact between the district and the Arizona School Facilities Board, ensuring compliance with all state regulations, funding requirements, and reporting obligations related to district facilities. This position also develops, implements, and coordinates the district’s emergency preparedness and safety programs, ensuring schools are equipped to respond effectively to emergencies and comply with local, state, and federal requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


School Facilities Board (SFB) Liaison:

 

  • Serve as the district representative with the Arizona School Facilities Board.
  • Manage SFB reporting requirements, including new construction, renovation, and capital funding projects.
  • Coordinate and oversee facility inspections, assessments, and compliance with state building standards.
  • Work collaboratively with architects, contractors, and district leadership on SFB-funded projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to SFB submissions and approvals.
  • Advise the Superintendent and Governing Board on facility-related matters, including capital planning and funding opportunities.


Emergency Preparedness Coordinator:

 

  • Develop, implement, and update the district’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Coordinate safety drills, training, and exercises for staff and students (e.g., fire, lockdown, evacuation).
  • Collaborate with local emergency management, law enforcement, fire, and public health agencies.
  • Provide staff training on crisis response, incident command protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Oversee district-wide communication systems for emergency notifications.
  • Lead after-action reviews following incidents or drills and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor trends, legislation, and best practices related to school safety and emergency preparedness.                                                                                                                                                                                          Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                            
  • Experience in school facilities management, public administration, construction oversight, or emergency preparedness.
  • Strong knowledge of Arizona School Facilities Board regulations, procedures, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, staff, and community members.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Requirement:
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications (or ability to complete within 6 months).                                                                                                                                                                                                         Work Environment:                                                                                                                                                                
  • Site visits to schools and facilities as needed. Coordination through email, phone, and virtual meetings.
  • Some evening and weekend hours required for meetings, emergencies, or events.
  • Moderate physical activity, including walking on construction sites and participating in drills.
